Title Fight- Hypernight

Image
Song: Hypernight Artist: Title Fight Album: Hyperview (2015) Bassist: Ned Russin Drummer: Ben Russin (brothers) Place: Kingston, PA Notes: This is a weird line. I'd describe it as unlike any other Title Fight basslines. The drum and bass intro groove is great, guitars quickly add texture and gleam. The bass repeats before moving to more usual-TF root notes. I like where the song goes at 1:41, before finally returning to the original line to end.

Shin Joong Hyun - "J" Blues 72

Image
Song: "J" Blues 72 Artist: Shin Joong Hyun Album: Beautiful Rivers and Mountains: The Psychedelic Rock Sound of South Korea's Shin Joong Hyun, 1958-74 (2011, but song is from 1972 I'm guessing) Bassist: ? Drummer: ? (musicians credited as Golden Grapes, one of Shin Joong Hyun's band) Place: South Korea Notes: This is a long jam. Things start out with a dub-ish line that ambles along. The 7 minute mark is a good period to hear the bass. At 7:30, there's a change, with the bass leading the charge. The drums come in and settle with the bass into a vibey groove. Monumental

Lee Moses- Bad Girl Parts 1 and 2

Image
Song: Bad Girl Parts 1 and 2 Artist: Lee Moses Album: Bad Girl 7" (1967) Bassist: ? Drummer: ? Place: New York City, NY (originally Atlanta, GA) Notes: Part 1 is slower, with a melodic bassline moving through chords. It backs up Moses' fervent voice, skipping and hopping. The bassline in Part 2 is amazing... nonstop grooving in delightfully playful melody. It just doesn't stop! On and on with great lines.
